Bathroom ReDo

Hi!!

Do you ever get in the mood that you're just tired of looking at the same old things in your house?  I know I do lol.  One of the many things I love about crafting is that you can change it out whenever you feel like it and I love doing that!  Plus......cheap makeover and that's always good huh :)

I've had this shelf in our bathroom for quiet a few years and I was in a white and blue mode at that point of time but it was time to change things out.  Seems like I'm in a "natural" color mode right now lol.  Here is the shelf and the picture I had on the wall over our vanity in the master bath, pretty blah I know.

So out came the paint, vinyl and sander and away I went!!  I decided the picture needed a little sprucing up also so brought out the bronzer for that too.  What did I come up with???

I think it is much better now.  I have a lot more to do in our bathroom and little by little I am getting there.  The hubs came home and saw it and said oh I like that much better so I guess I did good :)

I haven't done too much this week as it seems that everyone at work is coming down with the late Summer cold and so now I have it and I'm not happy about that :(  At least tomorrow is Friday and I can take it easy for the weekend as we don't have anything planned except to take our little Taz Man back for his checkup to make sure he isn't producing anymore crystals to form more stones.  So think I'm going to just go relax now for the night.

Have a good evening and happy crafting!!

Mini Bathroom Redo

Happy Monday!!

Man I wish this weather around Washington would make up its mind.  Warm one day and 20 degrees cooler and rain the next.  I'm just wanting a little warmth and consistency OK Mother Nature???  I know some of you out there are really fighting the extreme heat and if I could send you some of our cooler weather and swap it out for here I would.  I really would :)

My lily bush is blooming now and I love seeing what color it is going to be.  I bought the bulbs quiet a few years ago and the lady told me they change color every year.  I had never grown them before but I took her at her word lol.  Well you know what???  They do!!  Don't ask me the name of them because I can't remember lol but I love them and they are so pretty :)  This year they are a very light orange with yellow.  The pictures don't do it justice.

I have been wanting to change things up some in our bathroom and make it more rustic and country so here is a before shot.  Kind of boring I know.

Then here it is after adding a few new things I found.  Much better now don't you think??  I want to find something to hide the cleaning items and toilet bowl brushes.  Any ideas???

Here is a closer shot of my little decorations so you can see it better.  This first basket has a leather strap on it with some rivets.  Love it!
Here are my matching boxes that go with it.  My little Star candle holder actually has some cinnamon/vanilla beads in it and they smell so good!!!

Then on my one wall I had a picture I had done up when I first got my Cricuit.  It did the trick to fill the wall but now that I know more what I'm doing I changed it all out.

I had found some chocolate color burlap awhile ago so to keep with the country/rustic theme, I put my vinyl directly on the burlap.  Not my favorite thing to do as it is a lot harder to get it transferred but it does work, especially if you have patience.  A few leftover rose buds from Carissa's wedding and one of my metal rustic stars and much better!!  I think one of these days I will try to make a new frame for it out of old weathered wood.  That would be perfect them :)  How about that, I gave myself another project on my To Do list.
Well that is it for me tonight.  I need to get some dinner cooking before the hubs gets home from work.  That is one nice thing with our shifts, I have about 4 hours of "me" time when I get home from work before he gets here so on the days I'm not too tired I get to play.  Yay!!!

Have a fabulous evening and happy crafting!!

New Vinyl Frame

Happy Wednesday!!

Well it is hump day and man am I really wanting the weekend to come!!  Doing the job of 3 people really wears you down.  What am I thinking!!  lol

I found this frame many months ago and it has been sitting in my closet.  I can't find my original picture but it was a white frame with a flower picture on it.  I didn't like it but loved the frame and knew that it would be perfect for a vinyl picture so I finally got into the closet (I'm afraid to open the door as I need to organize it really bad lol) and pulled it out.  I painted it black, to match the decor that I have in the family room and started going to town.

I love how it turned out and I've hung it under my little black shelf, which I still don't have things on it yet.  I haven't had the light bulb go off yet on what to do with it lol.  Sorry for the picture, I couldn't get the lighting right as it was night when I took it and the light was reflecting off it.

Have a wonderful day and happy crafting!!

Frame Redo's

Happy Monday!!

Well both Larry and I are off today as Microsoft observes New Years Day today vs. Friday as some of the company so I get to do all kinds of things today!!  First off, the Christmas decoration storage tubs are coming in, thanks to my hubs and I will take everything down.  It won't take as long this year as I never did get the outdoor decorations up this year due to losing Dad but that's OK.

I had some frames that I had painted in white quite a few months ago and since we received so many pictures at Christmas of the kids in black frames, I decided to redo the white ones.  Our extra room, well it's kind of a catch all room that I want to work on this year. Right now I have the table and chairs that I bought for Mom and Dad's apartment when I moved them up to Assisted Living so now I have a full size table to do my crafts. Larry said I'm taking over the "Pod" lol.  It all looks so uniform now :)

I am hoping to get a few craft projects going after I finish that and get ready for Valentines decorations :)   Here is a sneak peek....

I'm also in the process or redoing this cute shelf!! I was cleaning out my craft closet and found some things I forgot I had lol.

The last thing I will be doing today is getting a massage after my youngest, Carissa gets off work.  We were going to go on Sunday afternoon but her kitty got into Brandon's fishing tackle items and got a hook stuck in his tongue and they had to take him to the vet to get it out :(  Poor baby!!  This way I'll be relaxed and ready for my 4 day work week :)

Hope you are having a wonderful day and happy crafting!!

Refurbished Barn

Happy Sunday!!

Remember a few days ago I posted that I had received this trellis from a girl at Carissa's work and that I was going to do something with it?

Well as many of you  have read in my earlier posts, the theme for the wedding is country and they are getting married in a refurbished 125 yr old barn SO, I decided to modify this trellis and make it into a card holder for those who do not bring gifts, just the cards so that they can be separate from the gift table so everything is accountable for.

Yes the barn doors actually open lol

This is the actual barn that they are getting married in.  I think this will fit right in with the scheme of things :)

What do you think???  I'm LOVIN it!!

Crafts and Redo's

Happy Thursday!!!!

Have you ever had one of those days where some things just don't go the way you want them too?  Well today I had decided to FINALLY clean my carpets as they were definitely in need of a good scrubbing.  It has been too warm to do it but today it was pretty mild out, in the mid 70's so this morning I figured this would be the day!  So out came my trusty carpet cleaner and supplies and off I went.  Things were going great UNTIL the very last room.  The 2nd to the largest room to boot.  I filled it up as usual and noticed it wasn't working as good as it should have been so I turned it off, cleaned it out and went back to it again.  It started working fine and then with just a quarter of it left to do..... it died :(  I guess it's time to say goodbye to my old friend and when I get another job, I'll have to replace it.  In the meantime I guess I won't finish ALL the carpet.  lol  Oh well things happen :)

So in one of my previous post, I had posted something that I was going to try.  Do you remember this little thing???  The far left with the white plate on it???

Well I spray painted it, started my polka dots (as you know I love them) and then for some odd reason my creative mind decided all by itself to put yellow and black on it too.  I don't know what came over me but it actually turned out kinda cute :)  The gingham heart looks like it's off center but it's not.  It was my angle.  Not the best photographer.  lol  I will be able to use it for many different occasions.

What do you think???  :)  Be honest.....

I also have been playing with making flowers.  I have conquered doing the ribbon and fabric ones so I thought I'd try out some with paper.  I ended up getting crepe paper and was able to make these.

Then I thought well what about tissue paper?  So I picked out some that I already had around the house and started cutting different size circles out with decorative scissors and started folding and using double sided tape and came up with this!

I also had a few of the pre-cut ones that I had picked up on clearance so thought I'd put some of them together and here they are too, along with the others that I made.  I am thinking I will be doing up a few frames and using this little cute embelishments OR maybe putting them on some twigs and put them in a vase!!  Hmmmm let's see what I can come up with.  lol

Hope you all have a great day!

Redo of picture frames

Happy Rednesday!!

I sat down and decided to re-do these two frames that I had purchased at GW last week.  I loved the detail on both of them and wanted to start doing a "frame" wall as I've seen so many cute ones out there.  Here is what I started with.  Notice the detail on both of them.

I decided to paint them white and then was hoping it was keep the detail which it did so I was please. The bottom one doesn't show it very well in this picture but it was dirty and dungy and I wanted to make sure it was cleaned up and looked fresh as a daisy :) The paper I picked for behind doesn't show up in the picture but it has a bit of shimmer to it which is a little added detail to enjoy.  So after painting, paper and vinyl and a few embelishments, this is the start of my frame wall in our familyroom :)  I'm very happy with them and think they turned out very cute :)

I have also started working on this piece.  Stay tuned for that one :)  It's my first try but we'll see if I succeed or not.  lol

Linking to It's a very cherry world today.  Lots of cute red items for Rednesday!!  Enjoy!
Have a great day!

Tray Redo

Happy Saturday!

Well I was able to finish my tray from yesterday and it was a bit more of a challenge than I had originally thought due to the finish that was already on it.  So what I did was sand it down some, put some paint and then took a dry brush to pull some of the darker color back out and distressed the edges.  Then my trusty and wonderful vinyl machine went to work :)  I finished it off by putting on these adoreable flowers that have the cutest gingham circles on it, added a few cute bumble bees and now it is a finished product on the family room wall :)  I can't wait to continue to brainstorm for more ideas in that room.  It isn't looking as bare now.

So that's it for now.  Busy weekend ahead so hopefully I'll have more soon.  Make it a great day!

Wooden Joys

Happy Sunday!  Well on Friday I got the itch to go find some new treasures and I have been working on them this weekend.  Here is the picture of my treasure hunt.  Remember these?

Well this is what I've gotten done so far!!

The little white picket fence turned from this!

To this!!!  Yes, I kept with the red and the white polka dots. I just couldn't resist. lol Hmmmm now what to put in it??  It is now sitting on my newly refinished shelf in the family room.  Have to do more with it the shelf still.  Well I guess that can be a mini project :)

The cute wooden box with a rope handle.  Opps... just noticed the hand painted "Welcome" is really off center.  lol  Oh well!!

The cute trinket box that my daughter and I found.  Love how it turned out!!

This was just a finished piece that I made for my daughter.  I had made her one earlier saying This is how our story began.  Now this is the finished one as this happens to be their song that they've dedicated to each other.  It's rather cute :)

I'm continuing working on things so stay tuned!!  Have a fantastic day!!

Goodwill Shelf Makeover

Happy Thursday!!  I ended up doing a dog leash post a few days ago and wanted to do something for my hubby also to hang his reflector vest, hat, etc. items on that would match the leash holder and since I found this beauty at Goodwill a few weeks ago, guess what!!  Yup.... it is now the proud owner of my hubby!!

Here is a shot of it before.  There was one piece broken off of it on the mirror part but actually, I liked it so I didn't even attempt to fix it.  I just sanded down where the glue was, as they didn't give me that part, and painted over the top.  Sorry for the offset picture, was trying to get it laying on the table.  Opps ;)

I painted it black, actually by hand as it is 90 degrees outside and didn't feel like being out there.  I figured being in the A/C house was much better.  lol  So after that I also put some crackle finish on it to give it a weathered look, and then sanded the edges to distress and here it is!!

This picture doesn't show the crackle or distressed look and I see I need to clean the mirrors.  lol  Oh well.    Lovin it!!

Have a wonderful day and happy junkin/crafting!!

Bread Basket and Thrift Find

Happy Monday!!  I hope that everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and enjoyed all the festivities!!  I was able to get a few projects done yesterday while waiting for the fireworks to start and think they turned out very cute.

First off, and I forgot to take a picture of the before but it was a blue top, which I just noticed in the picture you can see a few places that I will have to touch up lol but I decided to paint the top and side handles red and add a few white polka dots.  I think it is cute :)

Then I had bought this cute little thing at GW a few weeks ago and wasn't sure exactly what I was going to do with it but now I figured it out :)   So here it is pictured and it was a bright green color.

Now it looks like this :)  I think it is so darn cute now!!  It started out just red, then I thought the polka dots would be cute and then thought hmmmmm how about a few white stripes too.  Hmmmm still missing something.  So on went the cute daisy's and done!!!

Well I hope that everyone has a great day and until later ~ Hugs!!

Dog Leash Hanger

Happy Friday!!  So I scored on Monday evening over at Value Village.  I was actually looking for a large frame and walked by the "wood" section and glanced down and saw this!  I knew instantly I had to have it!!  It is in great shape so all I had to do is paint it.  So here is what I found, and not a bad color, just wasn't what I wanted.

You see, we have 3 Pomeranians and they get to go on walks every night and we have just hung their leashes over the exercise bike and I wanted to get them off of the handles and onto their own hooks, so I even labeled them :)  So this is Carissa holding my 3 dogs and the larger one is her and her boyfriends.  That is "Red" and they are all dressed up in their Halloween customes lol.  It's hard to get all 3 dogs together in one picture.

And here it is afterwards :) Love it against my wall!! Love it!!!

Well that's all for now.  Have a fantastic day and be happy!!  Until later ~ Hugs!!
