Floor is done :)

Howdy!  Well after working by myself I "FINALLY" finished all the floor and got everything moved back into the room.  It was a lot of work but definitely so worth it.  I loved how it turned out and I'm back in there crafting away now lol.  So lets do a little recap on where we started.

Below is the "before" and I had pretty much removed a lot of the furniture when I took these.  Yucky nasty carpet!!  I decided I was even going to wash the curtains too.  I figured hey, if I'm going to do it, do it right :)

The the ripping and tearing began and with each piece, I was so glad to get that out of there.  It has been in our house for 10 years and it was only 5 year carpet and it was destroyed trust me.

Once I got all of the carpet out and tack strips up, cleaned it really good and got it prepped, the transformation started.

Well after many hours on my hands and knees, I am happy to report that I have laid my very first floor all by myself and I love being in the room now :)  Slow and steady was my motto lol.

So what else have I been up to lately since I finished this project?  Well in exactly 13 days, we will have a reveal happening with #7 grandbaby......

Stay tuned for the reveal on my birthday, August 8th!  You can't receive any better birthday present than being there to find out first hand what this little sweetie will be.  Once I find out, I will put the date on the "correct" block I made with the date and it will go into her memory journey I'm doing for her.

Have a great day!!

Happy crafting!

Lovin it!

Howdy!

Just wanted to give you an update that I was able to pick up the flooring today and I started to lay it and after 2 hours, I got this much done.  I was taking my time as I really wanted to make sure that I got it just right and I can honestly say I'm loving it!!

The one thing I did find out is that one of the walls isn't square so there is a little gap but that will be covered by trim so not worried about that lol.  Amazing what carpet will hide huh hahahaha.

So I will be working on finishing the flooring in the next day or two so stay tuned for the finished product.  When the hubby came home he inspected it and said he was very impressed :)  Kind of proud of myself too ;-)

The one draw back to getting everything moved out was the hubby hurt his back helping move the large file cabinet so he's hurting a little tonight :/  Guess all my workouts have helped me as I'm not feeling to sore at all :)

Have a wonderful evening and happy crafting!!

My biggest project yet....what have I gotten myself into?

Howdy!!  Well being laid off work has it's advantages as I am taking the time to go to the gym and work out 5x's a week, watching what I'm eating and enjoying now really having a schedule to follow lol.  Hmmmm wonder how long I can get away with this with the hubby?

I decided to FINALLY rip out the old nasty carpet in our family room.  I just couldn't stand it anymore.  It was cheap carpet and the animals had destroyed it and no matter what I did I couldn't get them clean enough so I said now is the perfect time to do it :)  It took me 5 hours to get it all ripped out along with the pad and then had to get the staples and tack strips off.  I also sanded it all down to make sure that it was all smooth with nothing sticking up to show through the flooring when I lay it.  Yes I said when "I" lay it.  Yes this is my biggest project yet and I'm very excited.  I've picked out the floor planks (using the vinyl ones) and pick them up tomorrow as they didn't have them in stock at the store I went too closer to me.

So what did I start out with?  K get ready and I'll warn you now, it isn't pretty hahahahaha.  We did however get our money's worth since it was only 5 year carpet and we've been in the house going on 11 yrs lol.

Yup, even took the curtains down and are washing them too.  I figured get everything clean lol.
So I got everything out of there except for the exercise bike as I couldn't move it far by myself and the way out house is laid out, I'm going to have to work on the floor and when I get far enough, move it back lol.

I started ripping things in sections and figured it would make it easier to roll the old carpet up and that way it wouldn't feel so overwhelming to me.  Yes, that's my story and I'm sticking too it hahaha.  But seriously, it did work out great as I was able to just roll it up in about 5' sections.  Easier to dispose of that way.  This was the first strip gone.......

Then out comes the pad and bare subflooring!!

And it just kept coming and coming until finally I got it all done :)  Tomorrow I will pick it up and won't be laying it tomorrow as I'm definitely going to have to let my poor old body rest in between lol so stay tuned for the final outcome.....wish me luck as I've NEVER done this before :)

In the meantime, have a fabulous rest of the week and happy crafting!!
